I had a decent stay at Palacio Julio Hotel, with a superb location just a couple of blocks from the Zócalo, making it easy to explore Puebla's historical sites. The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable, but it was quite small and lacked some necessary amenities like drawers. The service felt a bit lacking, as the staff were not very helpful when I had questions. Overall, it's a good option if you're looking to spend more time exploring rather than staying in your room.

6.8/10

My stay at Palacio Julio Hotel was a mixed bag. While the location was fantastic, just a block away from the Zocalo Puebla and surrounded by lots of dining options, the service was lacking. The room was clean but basic, and I struggled with the mattress comfort—definitely not the best sleep. On the plus side, there’s a nice rooftop area for taking in city views, which I appreciated.

Rooms
5.0
The room was clean but very basic, with a mattress that felt incredibly hard, making comfort a real issue for me. However, there was a lovely view to enjoy from the higher floors.
Service
5.0
Unfortunately, the staff didn’t provide the best service. While they were courteous, their limited English made communication difficult, and they weren’t very helpful when I inquired about local attractions.
Location
9.0
The location is a significant plus—super close to the Zocalo and easy walking distance to plenty of restaurants and historic sites.
Dining
6.0
Dining was just alright. The breakfast options were decent but a bit pricey, and I found a hotel nearby that had better food.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities included a rooftop area and a small pool, but the overall atmosphere felt a bit dated, especially compared to the grand entrance.

I had a mixed experience at Palacio Julio Hotel. The beautiful lobby set high expectations, but the rooms were pretty plain and felt disconnected from the grandeur of the entrance. The location was fantastic, just a short distance from major sites, but the service left something to be desired.

Rooms
6.0
The room was fairly small and plain compared to the stunning lobby. I was hoping for more character given the grand entrance, but it felt like a modern building lacking charm.
Service

Unfortunately, the staff were unhelpful and seemed indifferent. I had a situation at check-in where the receptionist wasn't accommodating nor friendly, which put a damper on my stay.

The hotel’s location was superb! It was within walking distance to the Zocalo and other historical sites, making it easy to explore Puebla.
Dining
7.0
While I didn’t dine extensively at the hotel, I did have a meal in the restaurant that was tasty, even if it felt a bit pricey for what it was.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities included a rooftop pool, though it was small and not fully open during my stay. I appreciated the cleanliness and attention from the staff, but it felt like the overall experience fell short of expectations.

I had a pleasant stay at Palacio Julio Hotel, enjoying the spacious rooms and amazing views, especially of the Popocatepetl volcano. The location was fantastic, just a block from the Zócalo, which made it easy to explore Puebla. While some areas seemed a bit dated and could use updating, the friendly staff and general hospitality made my visit enjoyable. Overall, I would happily return, though there are a few areas that could use improvement.

Rooms
8.0
My room was spacious with two comfortable king-sized beds, but the decor felt a bit outdated. I appreciated the stunning views of the volcano, though some colleagues mentioned noise issues on lower floors.
Service
9.0
The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially with my late check-out request. While the reception could be a bit hit or miss in terms of English, they were generally helpful.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location is fantastic, just a couple of blocks from the main square and surrounded by excellent restaurants and shops. It made exploring the city very convenient.
Dining

Breakfast offered a broad selection of traditional Mexican dishes, though the coffee could be better. However, the fresh fruit juices were excellent and a nice way to start the day.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had basic amenities like a terrace with a small pool, though it wasn't heated. The wifi was slow at times, but overall the facilities were decent.

I had a pleasant stay at Palacio Julio Hotel, where the amazing entrance hall immediately captured my attention. The spacious room I had was comfortable, but I did face some issues with the hot water. However, the fantastic location near the Zócalo and delicious breakfast options made up for it. Overall, it's a charming hotel with some good characteristics! 😊

Rooms
7.0
The room was spacious with a separate living area, though it could benefit from better décor and a few more amenities. I enjoyed my time in it despite some shortcomings with the hot water.
Service
8.0
The staff was generally friendly and accommodating, especially during check-in. They went out of their way to help with requests, making my stay more enjoyable.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location is perfect, just a few blocks from the Zócalo and within walking distance to great restaurants, museums, and historic churches. I loved exploring the area!
Dining
8.0
I found the breakfast pretty good, with a great selection of traditional Mexican dishes. The chilaquiles were among the best I’ve had! I just wish the coffee had been better.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel has its charm, it feels like it could use some updates, especially regarding amenities like a fitness center or better Wi-Fi. The terrace pool is more of a dip pool and not heated.
